Topic: “Emergency Lighting – Beyond Bugeyes”
Presenter: Raul Valdes, PE – Owner of Electrical Design Solutions
Summary: Raul will be presenting strategies for meeting the IBC and NFPA emergency lighting requirements along egress paths. The most commonly applied solution, wall-mounted battery pack lights (AKA “Bugeyes”) are much maligned and, as it turns out, not the only option. Raul will share alternative methods such as fixture integrated battery packs, central inverters & battery packs, and new LED technologies just hitting the market. We will be adding to our design toolkit to achieve the required functionality, improve project aesthetics, and move beyond the “bugeyes”.
