Transcending Transparency

“Transcending Transparency is the culmination of a semester of research on CNC milling glass by Tulane School of Architecture students, Alyson Demskie + David Maples.  The work tests the limits of digital precision and material fragility while attempting to subvert the dematerialization of glass currently prevalent in architecture.  The pattern, inspired by Colin Rowe’s Transparency: Literal and Phenomenal, expands and occupies the spaces between the various panels of glass types.

Thank you to AllGlass LLC and Millhaus for the generous donations that made this research possible.”
