unCommon Construction – Volunteers
April 8 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Volunteering with unCommon Construction
Volunteering with unCommon Construction is a full-day event in which Apprentices, uCC staff, and volunteers work together to complete a full phase of construction on our build site. These are high-energy, exciting days and everyone leaves at the end of the day feeling like family!
Build Site Location
The address of the build site this semester is 2529 North Tonti Street.
Arrival and Departure
Volunteers should arrive at the build site at 8:15 am and will be done for the day at 4 pm.
What to Bring
All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty (they will get dirty). We also encourage bringing a reusable water bottle, hat, and sunscreen.
We ask that all our volunteers remain on-site for the full day, including lunch. We provide catered box lunches for Apprentices and can do the same for volunteers at $10 per person. Please consider sponsoring lunch for our team as well! $150.00 covers the cost of feeding all 15 of our apprentices and would count as a tax-deductible donation from AIA.
We’ve created this short informational orientation video that you can send out when you advertise the build day to give people an idea of what the day will be like.
