Advancing Ecological Infrastructure and Integrated Water Management

Featuring projects spanning over a decade in the Greater New Orleans area, Evans will cover strategies and techniques for successfully managing stormwater in one of the most challenging environments in the United States. Evans will discuss projects ranging in scale from residential, commercial, educational, industrial, and neighborhood developments. This discussion will include actual projects which utilize strategies such as green roofs, prairie restoration, constructed wetlands, pervious paving, infiltration, bioretention, cisterns, integrated gardens, micro-forests, ecological development, recreation models, and the rehabilitation of ecologically and culturally critical species.

Evans + Lighter are pioneers in a new era of design, one in which not only ecosystem services but also aesthetics are being redefined, and one which envisions a new relationship with water and nature.  “Our cities must become—not concrete-laden watershed superhighways, but networks of ‘green infrastructure’ capable of adapting to variable climatic conditions and modulating the pollutants and flooding in our urban environments.” – J.O. Evans III, dwell, May/June 2018
