2017 CANstruction: ICANIC New Orleans

This year’s theme “ICANIC New Orleans” focuses on New Orleans’ diverse and unique history. We are teaming up with several venues along the Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. corridor to host the CANsculptures®. OC Haley Blvd. was recently awarded the 2017 Great American Main Street Award from the National Main Street Center Inc., which is one more reason to host this year’s CANstruction®!

Working with local design teams and allied organizations, we are able to help address a serious need in the Greater New Orleans community. In years past, this event has raised more than 30,000 meals to feed the hungry of our area, and raised awareness about hunger and food access issues for all of the teams and attendees to the display. With your help, we can create the most successful event ever this year!

We invite you to join us for “ICANIC New Orleans” 2017 Canstruction event. Whether you form a team, donate funds, or join us for the Sculpture Stroll and Gala, your support is valuable to the success of this event, and one more step towards helping the hungry in New Orleans.


  • Team Registration Cost: $100
  • Fundraising Goal: $2500 per team

CANstruction® is a national organization whose mission is to raise awareness and reduce hunger in our communities through public art displays constructed entirely of canned food. Locally, teams work to fundraise, design and build CANsculptures® which will be deconstructed and donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Sculptures are structurally challenging, visually appealing, and after they come down, make delicious meals! Awards are given for nutrition, best meal, and most food.
