Keynote (Session 1) – ‘Sustainability and Technology: An Evolving Marathon’

Atianna Cordova, WATER BLOCK

This presentation will focus on acknowledging historical truths and limitations in traditional design practice; reflecting on the psychological impacts of design; challenging taditional design sequences to include rapid iteration cycles; and co-creating processes that prompt innovation, community stewardship and collective action.

12:30 – 1:30 PM

Session 2 – ‘Building to Last’

Al LaPera, TLC Engineering for Architecture

This presentation addresses the top resilient design strategies for buildings, lessons learned and how to create buildings that last and continue to function even in the most extreme circumstances. The presentation identifies how resilient designs begin with strategies that identify risks, then design building elements that minimize those risks. Lessons learned from critical building structures such as hospitals in the wake of hurricanes.  Discussion includes how built to last design strategies coincide with high level sustainable design, as well as highlight some of the most resilient and sustainable buildings in the world.

1:45 – 2:45 PM

Session 3  – ‘Meeting 2030 Challenge Goals under Tight Budgets using Cove.tool Automated Workflow’

Patrick Chopson, cove.tool

Is your firm signed up for the 2030 challenge? Join this session to see how leading architecture firms are utilizing the power of automation to save time, money and carbon emissions.

Session 2 – ‘Laser Scanning Charity Hospital’

Jeff Landers, ATG

Reality Capture is by far the most efficient and accurate way to collect current conditions of a vertical structure. However, once the data is collected, it is often extremely cumbersome and ‘heavy’ when ultimately loaded into Revit– causing crashes, headaches, and a lot of wasted time. This presentation will answer the question ‘what now?’ We will explore ATG’s recent Charity Hospital Scanning Project (with Williams Architecture, NOLA). This was a very large scan project that was planned from its inception to collect and manage data in a specific way to be more manageable within Revit.

1:45 – 2:45 PM

Session 3 – ‘Tech Driven Manufactured Construction’

Rebecca Cooley,  AOS Interior Environments

This session will feature information on DIRTT manufactured construction, designed using ICE technology to optimize materials and provide certainty on cost, schedule, and final results.
