Registration has ended.
AIA New Orleans is pleased to partner with DOCOMOMO US/Louisiana to present A Necessary Ruin: the Story of Buckminster Fuller and the Union Tank Car Dome.
Join us for the screening of writer and director Evan Mather's documentary on the Union Tank Car Dome. Located in Northern Baton Rouge, this compelling narrative brings us on a tour of the 384 diameter clear-span building, which at the time of its completion in 1958, was the largest example of Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome design.
A series of photographs of the Dome taken by Meg Holford will also be on display in the Center for Design through September. These photographs are featured prominently in the film.
Beginning with a reception at 7pm, the screening will start promptly at 8pm. This event is free and open to the public.
