Architects+Furniture Design – Request for Proposals
The following is a Request for Proposals and submissions for Architects+Furniture Design, an exhibition of local architects’ furniture design pieces featuring their process and methods of working in a variety of materials, to be held at AIA New Orleans newly renovated Center for Design. Up to fifteen architects will be featured for a one-month period, beginning with a special members-only opening, and a public Grand Opening of the Center and exhibition on White Linen Night, Saturday, August 7.
This exhibition is a continuation of a lecture series produced in partnership with Design Within Reach during the summer months of 2009. Six of the eight architects featured in the lecture series will be showing their physical works in the exhibition.
New Orleans has a variety of architects creating furniture in vastly different design styles, means, materials and methods. From chairs created with cutting-edge, 3-D printing technologies, to delicately hand-crafted wood pieces, New Orleans has produced some truly original pieces of work. We invite all those working in these diverse mediums and methods to submit.
A submission that illustrates the design process of a built work, or is in the final phases is particularly of interest to provide the audience with a pre/during/after understanding of the design process.
Submittal Requirements:
Submissions should be made in a PDF format and must include photographs of the piece, considering all view points, and dimensions. Also include the architect/artist name, contact information and material used.

Submissions will be reviewed upon receipt. Those chosen for the exhibition must submit their pieces by July 26 for preparation and installation. The pieces will be displayed for a four-week period.
